What We Do

CarbonFuelTech develops electrochemical technologies that convert CO₂, nitrogen, and water into high-value renewable fuels — powered entirely by clean electricity.

CO₂ Electrolysis
Electrochemical CO₂ Reduction (ECR)

CO₂ Electrolysis

We focus on the electrochemical conversion of CO₂ into carbon-neutral fuels such as ethanol and other carbon-based products using advanced electrocatalysts and compact miniaturised flow-cell electrolyzers.

Research Focus

Our research is centred on developing miniaturised flow-cell electrolyzers that enable efficient CO₂ reduction under controlled conditions. These systems integrate precision fluid delivery using peristaltic pumps, allowing stable and reproducible experimental environments.

Key Research Areas

  • Development of high-performance electrocatalysts
  • Design of compact and scalable flow-cell systems
  • Integration of hardware and reaction control systems
  • Optimisation of operating conditions for fuel generation

Innovation & Impact

Our work is supported by a granted patent on CO₂ reduction processes (Patent No. 570319, 2025), enabling scalable and cost-effective solutions for research and industrial applications.

Electrochemical Nitrogen Reduction (NRR)

Ammonia Synthesis

Our ammonia synthesis research focuses on electrochemical nitrogen reduction (NRR) as a sustainable alternative to the Haber-Bosch process. We develop novel catalyst materials that enable nitrogen activation under mild ambient conditions.

Research Focus

We develop and test novel catalyst materials that enable nitrogen activation and conversion to ammonia under mild conditions. Experimental validation is carried out using both H-cell and flow-cell configurations.

Key Research Areas

  • Catalyst synthesis for nitrogen reduction
  • Electrochemical testing in H-cell and flow systems
  • Optimisation of reaction pathways for improved ammonia yield
  • Integration with compact electrochemical devices

Innovation & Impact

Our work is backed by a granted patent on nitrogen reduction catalysts (Patent No. 571882, 2025), advancing green ammonia production technologies.

Ammonia Synthesis
Hydrogen Generation
Electrochemical Water Splitting

Hydrogen Generation

CarbonFuelTech conducts research in electrochemical hydrogen generation through water splitting. We design compact alkaline water electrolyzers optimised for efficiency and integration with our broader electrochemical platform.

Research Focus

Our systems are developed with a focus on modularity, enabling compatibility with CO₂ and nitrogen reduction processes. Research includes improving electrode materials, optimising reaction conditions, and integrating controlled flow systems.

Key Research Areas

  • Development of alkaline water electrolyzer systems
  • Optimisation of electrode and membrane materials
  • Integration with compact and portable devices
  • Scalable design for research and pilot applications

Innovation & Impact

This work contributes to green hydrogen generation, a key component in future clean energy systems, integrating with our CO₂-to-fuel and ammonia synthesis platforms.

Our Integrated Research Approach

A defining strength of CarbonFuelTech is the integration of multiple domains into a unified platform — combining catalyst design, electrochemical reactor development, hardware engineering, and product testing for end-to-end innovation.
